About Me
My name is Tommy, and I am a filmmaker based in Toronto and London, Ontario. I was born in Shanghai, China. I moved to Canada when I was 11 and have been here ever since. I’ve always had a special connection to images. My journey with cameras began with a small GoPro I bought using my Chinese New Year money when I was 11. I used it to take pictures of the stars.
As I grew older, I became more and more fascinated by the beauty that surrounds us. I picked up my first DSLR in grade 10 and fell in love, not with the camera itself, but with what it could capture. Over time, though, I started to feel that photography alone was too limiting; it couldn’t quite tell the full stories unfolding around us the way I wanted to.
That’s when filmmaking caught my eye. It let me blend everything I love - storytelling, visuals, emotion, and sound - into one art form. Now I hope and dedicate myself to creating films that feel alive and honest, combining cinematic beauty with authentic emotion.
